The cow, the land, and knowledge are very important objects. These things should be given in charity. The result achieved by donating these three things is the same. These three objects can fulfill all the desires of human beings. The cow is accepted as the mother of all living entities. She gives happiness to everyone. ( Mahabharata, Dana dharma Parva)
母牛,土地,以及知識是非常重要的東西.人們應該來佈施這三樣東西. 而奉獻其中任何一項所得到的回報是相同的. 這三者能夠滿足人類所有的願望. 母牛被所有的生物接受為母親.牠給所有的生物帶來快樂.
One should not unnecessarily give trouble to or disturb cows. If one mistreats a cow and does not take care of her properly then by her anger that person becomes destroyed. The temple and many other places are smeared with cow dung for purification. A person who daily feeds a cow even a morsel of grass certainly attains the result of observing many vows. ( Mahabharata, Dana dharma Parva)
人不應該沒有必要的去麻煩或騷擾母牛.人若虐待母牛或是沒有好好地照顧牠們,由此而引起了母牛的忿恨,那麼這個人就會失去他所有的幸運了.人們在廟宇和其他的許多地方塗上牛糞來淨化其空間.人即使每天只是以一把草來餵牛也是會得到和遵循許多誓言一樣的結果.
One who offers obeisances to the cow and circumambulates her becomes liberated from all sinful reactions and enjoys heavenly pleasure. As Brihaspati, the spiritual master of the demigods, is worshipable, as Narayana, the Lord of Laksmi is worshipable, so the cow is worshipable for all. (Padma Purana, Srishti Khanda )
一個向母牛頂拜並且繞拜母牛的人能夠從他自己的罪惡報應中解脫出來,並且能夠享受到天堂般的快樂. 就像培哈斯帕地 (Brihaspati, 半神人的靈性導師)是值得崇拜的, 又如主納拉央那(Narayana,幸運女神的主人)是值得崇拜的.而母牛也是值得大家崇拜的.
